Karl Lagerfeld diseña para la ópera de Viena, el modista alemán se ha inspirado en el vals «El Danubio azul». El próximo 23 de febrero, llevarán sus diseños 144 jóvenes del teatro vienés. Dicho baile es uno de los más importantes y elegantes de la temporada de carnaval vienés. El precio de las entradas oscila entre 290 euros (308 dólares) hasta los 20.500 euros (21.777 dólares) lo que cuesta un palco con capacidad para 10 personas.
El evento se celebra cada año, junto a la empresa austríaca Swarovsky, elabora un peinado a las jóvenes del baile y un diseñador internacional; el estilismo de los bailarines (144 parejas de chicos y chicas entre los 17 y 24 años) esmoquín para ellos y vestido blanco largo para ellas además de la tradicional tiara para las chicas.
El diseño es una mezcla de influencias clásicas y modernas, elaborado con 394 cristales zafiros azules y cinco perlas de cristal de Swarovsky.
El Danubio azul, su compositor Johann Strauss, hijo, celebra su 150 aniversario y da pie a la apertura de la ceremonia e invita a la pista a los participantes.
